Welcome!
So, where did the name CrossTimbers come from? Thanks to Wikipedia, the definition of a cross timbers is "...used to describe a fairly narrow strip of land in the United States that runs from southeastern Kansas across Central Oklahoma to Central Texas...it forms part of the boundary between the more heavily forested eastern part of the country and the almost treeless Great Plains."
Basically, it's a place of transition from desolation to growth and life. That's what we want to be...a church that you can be a part of no matter what transitions you may be facing in your own life. Our desire is to help you connect to God in an environment that is both safe and friendly.
History
The Oklahoma Conference of the United Methodist Church and First United Methodist Church of Moore recognized the growth that was taking place in Moore. In June 2008, Pastor Chris, Jennifer and Elise moved to Moore to start CrossTimbers. With an awesome small group and lots of hard work, we celebrated our first worship service April 5, 2009 at Broadmoore Elementary School. God blessed us and helped CrossTimbers grow and in August 2009, we moved into our current location at 3004 S. Sunnylane in Moore.
What's Sunday morning like?
On each Sunday morning you can expect amazing worship and a relevant message. You'll be greeted by friendly people, invted to grab a cup of coffee and a donut (or two!) on your way into the sanctuary. Our band plays a variety of Contemporary Christian songs, entertwined with secular songs you might hear on the radio during your drive to work or school, and some originals written by our band. The music is loud enough that you can sing along without worrying about everyone else in the room hearing you! The messages will speak to events and situations you are facing in life and will help you discover God moving in the midst of life. We celebrate communion almost every Sunday. Children are invited to be a part of the worship service with us, but we also offer nursery and childcare up through toddlers.
Thanks!
